Fonts

General info

EasyRPG only supports files of the following types using the appropriate extensions: .fon, .fnt, .bdf, .ttf, .ttc, .otf, .woff2, .woff. If you plan to distribute a game using one of the fonts present on the websites, make sure the file has a license that allows for it, and double check if the license attributed to the file seems fishy. Since the files will need to be loaded and stored in memory when used on the Player, make sure the files are not too big, otherwise you may encounter issues ranging from lag to crashes depending on the platform and user configuration.

Using a font as a global setting

To set a font as in-use globally when using the EasyRPG Player, the font file should be placed in the Font folder of the EasyRPG Player with the .fon, .fnt, .bdf, .ttf, .ttc, .otf, .woff2, or .woff extension. Once placed, after booting the EasyRPG Player, the settings menu should be opened, and in the Engine section, the Font 1 and Font 2 should be able to be set with the added fonts and wanted size. On Android, the font is instead selected from the main settings menu, in the font section. You can check the Platform Differences page to know where the Font folder is located on your platform.

Using fonts for a game

To bundle a font with a game, create a Font folder at the root of the game, and place the Font files in it. The font files should have the .fon, .fnt, .bdf, .ttf, .ttc, .otf, .woff2, or .woff extension to be able to be loaded. If the file is named Font1, it will replace the font 1 of a game (in-game System graphic set with the RPG2000 font), and if named Font2, it will replace the font 2 (in-game System graphic set with the RPG2000G font). Other placed fonts will be only be able to be called by the Show String Picture command if a font is specified.

Soundfonts

General info

FIXME Check the list of individual recommended soundfonts.

EasyRPG only supports sf2 files that use the .sf2 extension. If you plan to distribute a game using one of the soundfonts present on these websites, make sure the file has a license that allows for it, and double check if the license attributed to the file seems fishy. Since the file will need to be loaded and stored in memory, make sure the file is not too big, otherwise you may encounter issues ranging from lag to crashes depending on the platform and user configuration.

Using a soundfont as a global setting

To set a soundfont as in-use globally when using the EasyRPG Player, the soundfont file should be placed in the Soundfont folder of the EasyRPG Player with the sf2 extension. Once placed, after booting the EasyRPG Player, the settings menu should be opened, and in the Audio section, FluidSynth/FluidLite should be set to ON, and the soundfont should be selected in the soundfont menu. On Android, the soundfont is instead selected from the main settings menu, in the audio section. You can check the Platform Differences page to know where the Soundfont folder is located on your platform.

Using a soundfont for a game

To bundle a soundfont with a game, place the soundfont file at the root of the game, and rename the file and its extension to easyrpg.soundfont. The soundfont will be used by default when the game is booted if FluidSynth or FluidLite is set as an active MIDI driver, which should be the case by default.
